SUMMER PRE-SEASON

The Summer Goalkeeper Pre-Season Programme of Athens Goalkeepers Academy is a specialised training programme designed for goalkeepers who want to make the most of the summer period and enter the new season better prepared.

At a time when most athletes are outside the daily training routine of their clubs, AGA offers an organised training, assessment and development environment, fully adapted to the specific demands of the goalkeeper position.

What is the Summer Goalkeeper Pre-Season Programme

It is an intensive training programme that combines technical work, tactical development, physical conditioning and match readiness.

The philosophy of the programme is based on targeted work according to the needs of the modern goalkeeper. The aim is not simply to maintain fitness during the summer, but to achieve meaningful improvement in key areas of the game.

Through daily training sessions, goalkeepers work with consistency, intensity and a clear methodology, so they can return to their clubs with greater confidence, improved match readiness and a clearer understanding of their role.

Who is it for

The programme is designed for youth goalkeepers of different ages and levels who want to continue working in an organised way during the summer.

It is suitable for athletes who:

  • want to maintain training rhythm and match readiness
  • are preparing for the new season
  • wish to improve technical and tactical aspects of their game
  • need specialised work in the goalkeeper position
  • want to train in an environment with daily guidance and assessment

Goalkeepers are placed in the appropriate groups according to their age, level and individual needs.

What the training includes

The Summer Pre-Season Programme of AGA includes specialised goalkeeper training, with emphasis on both basic and more complex game situations.

The programme may include areas such as:

  • goalkeeper technique
  • positioning and spatial awareness
  • reactions and saves
  • playing with the feet
  • dealing with crosses and managing the penalty area
  • crosses and aerial challenges
  • 1v1 situations
  • quick decision-making
  • tactical behaviour in real match conditions
  • physical conditioning adapted to the demands of the position

Training is not limited to isolated drills. Each training unit has a clear objective, structure and connection to the real game, allowing the goalkeeper to transfer the work from training into match situations.

Where and when it takes place

The Summer Goalkeeper Pre-Season Programme takes place at Renti Arena in Athens, in an organised and safe training environment.

The programme is usually held after the end of the school year and before the start of the main pre-season period of the clubs, giving goalkeepers the opportunity to make productive and meaningful use of the summer period.
